Give God the Glory

As a follower of Christ, you gotta love it when both the owner and head coach of the Indianapolis Colts give glory to God in interviews on national TV immediately after yesterday’s game.  It’s in that moment that you have the opportunity to talk about all your time of preparation, level of intensity, or personal strength.  Instead, each of these men humbly gave glory to God for the ability to play sports and then enjoy winning the game.

I was thinking about all the times we have the opportunity to choose to give glory to God when asked.  For example, someone says to you, “Wow, you really did great on that project at work!”  It’s in that moment you and I have the ability to say, “Yeah, we were fortunate how it all came together”, or “Yeah, I guess our hard work really paid off this time.”  When we choose to make comments like those, we are robbing ourselves of a chance to give God the glory.  We are actually stealing the glory to ourselves or acting like God had nothing to do with it.

Next time someone praises you or recognizes an accomplishment, instead of taking all the credit, or blaming it on luck, why not allow God to get the glory He deserves?
