No Idols?

I think it’s easy to assume that we are not guilty of idol worship when we read stories like those in today’s reading of the One Year Bible.  In Judges 17 it tells of how Micah took silver and had an idol cast and placed in his home as a shrine.  He even had his own personal priest to advise him on his new religion.

The key verse in this is in verse 6 where it says, “all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.”  Now, looking through the lense of this verse let me ask, “Are there any idols in your life?”  Is there any part of you that is doing whatever seems right in your own eyes?  Do you ask God where you should live?  How you should live?  Who you closest friends should be?  Who you should date?

Or, do you do what seems right in your own eyes?  That’s called idol worship.  Let’s dare to look through our lives today and see if there is any area of idol worship.
