You Can Choose Joy

Posted in Attitude, Change, Fruit of the Spirit, Happiness, Joy, Perspective by PCraig on April 30, 2015

I don’t think most of us think of joy as a choice.  Many think it is dependent upon their circumstances.  Some even go as far as thinking that joy is beyond them and something they’ll probably never really possess.

Looking at the writings of Scripture, I love what Paul says in Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!”  Here’s some things I take away from this passage:

  • It is stated like a command rather than an option.  So, all Christ followers should pay attention and strive for it.
  • It is to be on-going and not based upon daily circumstances.  Paul was in prison when he wrote this.
  • This quality was important enough that he stated it twice, back-to-back.  Plus, the whole book emphasizes joy while in prison.
  • The ability to have joy daily must come from rejoicing “in the Lord.”  When I think about His goodness, grace, and love, I can be filled with joy.
  • We need to speak joy-filled words.  “I will SAY it again…”  The more we get in the habit of speaking joy, the more we’ll experience it.

Hope this helps you live a life that is full of joy.  Feel free to leave a comment about what you do to help live a joy-filled life.

It’s In Your Hands

Posted in Faith, Miracle, Perspective, Stress, Victorious Living by PCraig on April 23, 2015

Have you faced situations where you didn’t think you had what it takes to make it?  The disciples were perplexed in Matthew 15:32-33 when Jesus wants them to feed a crowd of 4000 men, plus women and children.  What were they to do?  How do you obtain the resources to pull off such a need?  Here’s some things God dropped in my heart from this story:

  • God has already figured out how to resolve the problem.
  • I need to trust in God’s provision and power over my own abilities.
  • I need to offer to God all I DO have so He can multiply it.
  • God is able to more with little than I can with much.

I don’t know what you may be facing today, but take courage in this story and apply these principles.  The disciples should have known that Jesus could handle the challenge like He had other times before (He already fed 5,000 on another occasion).

Little becomes much when you place it in the Master’s hands!

Bloom Where You’re Planted

Posted in Attitude, Choice, honor, Victorious Living, witnessing by PCraig on April 15, 2015

I heard that phrase a long time ago, but it still holds a great truth.  The idea is that regardless of your surroundings and circumstances you can choose to bloom there.

Paul shared this same concept in 2 Corinthians 12 when he asked the Lord to take away a “thorn in the flesh.”  Much speculation exists on whether this was a person, an ailment, a physical challenge in Paul’s life.  It really doesn’t matter what it is, what is important is how Paul dealt with it.

He asked the Lord to remove several times, but He didn’t.  Finally God speaks and shows that it is there to show God’s power in Paul’s weakness.  Isn’t that how God’s power shows up the most?  Otherwise people give credit to the person for accomplishments.

Paul goes onto say that because of this revelation he will boast about his weakness to bring more honor to God.  It could look like this: “I thought you said you didn’t like your job, yet you seem to give it everything you’ve got, what gives?”

When a Christian pushes through difficult challenges and keeps on going, it brings honor to God, which is our ultimate objective.

What weak area of your life could you leverage to bring more honor to God?

Tax Time

Posted in Attitude, Choice, Happiness, Perspective by PCraig on April 9, 2015

Taxes.  Okay, are you depressed yet?  It’s that time of year and each time we approach it with fear and trembling.  Hopefully, you are one of the rare people who actually get some money back from the government, but that’s usually not our experience.

Jesus said we ought to pay them though, so I guess I’ll keep following what He said.  And as much as I hate paying such a ginormous percentage of income in taxes, I guess I’m glad for a few things:

  • To be an American.
  • To be healthy enough to earn a paycheck.
  • To earn a lot more than the dollar a day much of the world lives on.

Plus, even though there are plenty of stupid things and items I don’t agree with that are supported by my taxes, there are many good programs my percentage helps make happen.

Okay, I feel better now about submitting my paperwork to my accountant tomorrow and I hope it helped you as well.  Look at your blessings and choose to be happy!

He’s Alive

Approximately 2000 years ago everything changed when a man who claimed to be the Messiah rose from the dead.  Not only did a few women and the disciples confirm this, but also Paul tells us that over the course of many days he appeared to more than 500 at the same time.  These people became radical witnesses of the resurrected Christ and went all over spreading the news.  We call it Good News because it means God the Father accepted the sacrifice of His own Son as payment for the sins of humanity.  Now, there is an advocate that paves the way for us to be worthy of coming before the Father to obtain grace and mercy.

Here are a few reasons to celebrate this weekend:

You may feel discouraged – but He is alive

You may feel uncertain – but He is alive

You may feel weak – but He is alive

You may have sorrow – but He is alive

You may be sick – but He is alive

You may be tempted – but He is alive

You may feel inadequate – but He is alive

You may be lonely – but He is alive

It doesn’t make any difference what you are going through today, Jesus Christ being alive changes everything, so be encouraged today my friend.  The world is convulsing in the birth pangs of a new age that is about to dawn, because Jesus is alive!

Our Resurrection Celebrations at Crossroads are this Easter Sunday at 9 & 10:45 a.m.  Celebrate good times c’mon on!!

P.S.  Our Helicopter Easter Egg Drop is this Saturday at 11 a.m.  Tell somebody right now!!
